This page collects the questions people actually ask about the RayNeo Air 4 Pro and answers each one directly. If you want the reasoning behind any answer, the linked articles go deeper.
The basics
What is the RayNeo Air 4 Pro?
The RayNeo Air 4 Pro is a tethered AR display — a pair of glasses that shows you a virtual screen. It has no battery and no operating system. You plug it into a phone, laptop, handheld or console over USB-C, and that device supplies both the video signal and the power.
How much does the RayNeo Air 4 Pro cost?
$299 in the US for the standard edition. The limited Batman/Joker editions cost $319. At launch, RayNeo ran early-bird pricing of $249 and $269 respectively for the first month.
Does the RayNeo Air 4 Pro have HDR?
Yes. It is the first pair of AR glasses with an HDR10 display, with 1,200 nits of peak brightness and a 200,000:1 contrast ratio.
What is the virtual screen size?
RayNeo markets it as a 201-inch virtual display. That figure assumes a viewing distance of about 6 metres. The number that actually describes the experience is the field of view: 46°, which is the same as a 135-inch screen at 4 metres.
How much does the RayNeo Air 4 Pro weigh?
76 grams, with the weight distributed 46.7% front and 53.3% rear so the centre of mass sits behind your ears.
Display and picture
What is the resolution of the RayNeo Air 4 Pro?
1920 × 1080 per eye in 2D, and 3840 × 1080 in 3D mode, where each eye gets its own 1080p image.
Is the display sharp enough to read text on?
Yes. The Air 4 Pro delivers 49 PPD (pixels per degree). For comparison, a Retina-class phone held at typical distance is around 50–60 PPD. Text is sharp at normal sizes.
What panel does the RayNeo Air 4 Pro use?
A 0.6-inch SeeYa Micro-OLED unit — a fifth-and-a-half generation tandem OLED developed with TCL — behind Birdbath optics.
What is the refresh rate?
Up to 120 Hz. Many source devices default to 60 Hz, so it is worth setting explicitly.
What is the field of view?
46°. The XREAL One Pro offers 57° and the VITURE Luma Pro 52°, so the Air 4 Pro sits in the middle of the category.
Does the RayNeo Air 4 Pro support Dolby Vision?
No. It supports HDR10, not Dolby Vision.
What is the Pixelworks Vision 4000?
It is the image processor inside the Air 4 Pro. Its main job is real-time SDR-to-HDR conversion, which remaps the tone curve of ordinary SDR video. It also handles 2D-to-3D conversion.
Audio
What kind of speakers does the RayNeo Air 4 Pro have?
A quad-speaker array, co-tuned with Bang & Olufsen. It is the best audio in its price bracket and one of the main reasons to buy the glasses.
What is Whisper Mode?
A phase-cancellation mode that reduces how much audio leaks to people around you. It matters most on flights and trains.
What is the Sound Tube?
An optional accessory, sold separately, that routes audio toward your ear canal. RayNeo claims it adds about 15 dB of effective volume and cuts leakage by up to 80%. It costs around £15.
Do the speakers leak sound?
Yes, in normal mode — that is the trade-off of open-ear audio. Whisper Mode and the Sound Tube both reduce it substantially.
Compatibility and connection
What do I need to connect the RayNeo Air 4 Pro?
USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode. This is not the same as any USB-C port. A port that carries only power and data will not drive the glasses.
Does the RayNeo Air 4 Pro work with an iPhone?
Yes, with a USB-C iPhone (15 and later). Note that iOS blocks DRM-protected video from external displays, so Netflix and similar apps will not play. See the streaming guide.
Does it work with a Steam Deck?
Yes, and it is one of the best uses for the glasses. It works over USB-C with no configuration. Expect battery drain on the Deck — the glasses draw power from it.
Does it work with a PS5 or Xbox?
Yes, but you need the RayNeo HDMI Adapter, because consoles output HDMI rather than USB-C video. It is bundled for $339 instead of the standalone $299.
Do you need an app?
No, not for basic use. Plug in and the glasses act as a standard external display. The RayNeo Air Series App adds 2D-to-3D conversion, brightness presets and firmware updates.
Does the RayNeo Air 4 Pro work with a Mac?
Yes. All Apple Silicon Macs and recent Intel models support DisplayPort over USB-C.
Comfort, eyesight and safety
Can you wear the RayNeo Air 4 Pro over your normal glasses?
Not comfortably. The frame is designed to sit close to your face, and stacking spectacles underneath pushes the display outside the eyebox. Use the included prescription lens frame instead.
How much do prescription lenses cost?
Expect $60 to $150 for the inserts, on top of the $299 for the glasses. RayNeo includes the lens frame in the box and partners with Lensology in several markets.
Do progressive lenses work with the RayNeo Air 4 Pro?
Poorly. The virtual image sits at a fixed distance, and progressive lenses are designed for a range of distances — so only part of the screen lands in the correct zone. Single-vision computer lenses work much better.
Is the RayNeo Air 4 Pro safe for your eyes?
The panel uses 3,840 Hz PWM dimming and carries TÜV SÜD certification for low blue light and flicker-free operation. At 3,840 Hz the flicker is far above what anyone can perceive. There is also an Eye Protection display preset that reduces blue light.
Why is the image blurry at the edges?
Almost always a fit problem rather than a defect. The eyebox is only 14 × 7 mm, so your pupils need to sit inside a specific volume. Adjust the nose pads first — they have the largest effect — then the temple tilt.
Limitations
Does the RayNeo Air 4 Pro have 3DoF?
No. The display is fixed to your head rather than anchored in space. There is no head-tracked positioning, and RayNeo’s product documentation makes no such claim. The “3D” in the marketing refers to stereoscopic video and 2D-to-3D conversion.
Can the RayNeo Air 4 Pro replace a monitor?
As a single external display for a laptop, yes. As a multi-monitor replacement, no — you cannot pin windows in space and look away from them. See the work breakdown.
Does the RayNeo Air 4 Pro have a battery?
No. There is no battery inside at all. It draws power from the host device, and supports up to 100 W Power Delivery passthrough so a power bank can keep both alive.
Buying
What is the RayNeo Air 4 Pro Batman Edition?
A cosmetic variant of the standard model, announced at MWC 2026, with character-specific industrial design, custom packaging and a themed light shield. It costs $319 and has identical hardware. There are two variants — the Justice Edition (Batman) and the Chaos Edition (Joker). See the full breakdown.
Is the RayNeo Air 4 Pro worth buying?
Yes for films, games and travel. No if you want virtual monitors for work, because of the missing spatial tracking. The buyer’s guide walks through the decision.
